Chapter Meeting

ISM-Carolinas Virginia: Risk, ROI, & Resilience: The Business Case for Bold Sourcing

This 2.5-hour Power Session is built around real spend data and a practical category-level application. The workshop is anchored on five data visuals that examine supplier concentration by category, ownership mix, Tier 2 visibility, geographic spend distribution, and supplier readiness performance over time. We begin with concentration risk and business continuity, then move on to small-business market structure and local economic impact. Participants will analyze dependencies in their portfolios, identify blind spots in Tier 2, and evaluate how ownership and geography shape resilience.

The session includes a hands-on category playbook. Each table/group selects one spend category and then measures concentration, identifies backup strategies, evaluates supplier capabilities, determines the right partnership structure, and builds a performance scorecard. Participants leave with a 90-day action roadmap and executive messaging tools to position diversification as a means of revenue assurance and value preservation.

Learning Outcomes - Participants will be able to:

Quantify supplier concentration risk in a spend category

Identify Tier 2 and ownership blind spots

Interpret geographic spend impact on resilience

        Apply a five-step diversification playbook

        Build a basic supplier scorecard

Translate sourcing strategy into executive language focused on ROI and risk mitigation

This session is practical, data-driven, and directly aligned with business continuity, risk management, and procurement leadership priorities.

Lunch will be included for all attendees
